“Martha is as warm and welcoming as her Southern accent,” says Bend client Sally Murphy.
“More important, she has over 30 years in the business and has strong knowledge and
intuition about the market and the individual needs of her clients. Martha gets the job done!”
“Martha listens, then takes what you have to say and provides feedback that’s exactly what
you asked for. She goes out of her way to understand your needs and then matches the
best solution to meet (or exceed) those needs,” says client Chris Otto.
Martha’s interesting background reveals a passion for education and helping others.
Graduating high school as Valedictorian, she went on to earn a BA at Baylor University in
Waco, Texas., This was followed by an MA in English and Latin Studies at Baylor as
Chapter President of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Elected Mortar Board member. Martha
continued to postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina and College of William
and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, culminating in her thesis on the poetry of Emily
After many successful years as a teacher, and then professor at the University of Arkansas
and Baylor University, Martha launched a fulltime real estate career in 1983. “I think my
passion for homes and real estate first started while helping at my father’s smalltown
construction supply business. Each day after school I would walk to his store and spend my
afternoons surrounded by builders, remodelers, and skilled craftsmen,” Martha says. She
built a company that was a model for real estate brokerages in Houston and quickly
entered into the top 10 independent companies of a rapidly expanding market. In 1997,
Greater Houston’s Builders Association selected Martha as REALTOR of the year out of
over 10,000 nominees.
In December of 2000, with several offers from franchises and independent companies,
Martha sold her brokerage to Prudential Real Estate and moved to Bend to be near her
daughter and family. After settling into Central Oregon , the developers of Pronghorn
recruited Martha to their sales team. Always up for a challenge, Martha accepted the
opportunity to grow the new luxury golf development and she and her sales team
negotiated $75 million in real estate by the end of September 2005.
Martha’s reputation as a business consultant and real estate coach quickly caught the
attention of other developers and soon she was traveling to build onsite sales teams at
communities in California and Washington. . However, Martha’s passion quickly returned to
the Bend luxury real estate market. For years, her business approach to real estate
marketing has earned the trust of residents in the Broken Top, Awbrey Glen, and Awbrey

Martha believes in “clients for life,” not just transactions, and she believes that the Realtor
you work with has to be the best fit for you.

“What more can you say about a REALTOR® who helps you sell your house in 10 days when everyone says no new listing can sell? Martha is the best of the best. She gave us great advice about what it would take to sell our house and she was right on all accounts. Thanks to Martha, we were able to leave behind a very tough home market and make our move cross country with ease. Instead of a year’s worth of bills, we’ve got cash ready to put down on our new home. What a pro! Thanks again Martha.”
