It seems that most people love Bend during the summer time. The area comes alive with the hustle and bustle of tourists, concerts, events and a myriad of outdoor activities. Even though I do love the gorgeous weather and lengthened days that summer brings I must say that I am far more partial to the fall months in Bend.
The pace becomes leisurely as the weather begins to cool; crowds taper off and children return to school. The rush of activities and concerts lessen and a more peaceful sense falls over Bend.
I love this laid-back lifestyle. The culmination of the crisp morning air, the smell of wood stoves heating up for the first time and the taste of a pumpkin slice latte on my lips. It’s a time to enjoy the brisk fall days in anticipation for the first snow. The snow flurries seem eminent before the autumn season comes to a close. Ideas of languidly sitting by a warm fireplace, with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate in hand. As the seasons change the city seems to change as well. Transforming into a respite for locals, a place of warmth, friendship and families.
As the summer season ends I look forward to fall with great anticipation, knowing that these unhurried months spent in such a beautiful place lay ahead of me.
