How well read are you?
Are you the type of person that always hope for brown in Trivial Pursuit? Do you find yourself quoting Shakespeare to your friends?
After careful deliberation, we’ve figured out who our ideal clients are… They are the most interesting people in the world. They are well,-read, educated, from diverse backgrounds, have a list of unique accomplishments and generally a joy to learn about.
Bend, Oregon is made up of such a variety of people. Almost all of us came from a different region and made a conscious decision to make Central Oregon our home. We’re continually amazed at the personal stories we hear every day.
So does this describe you? We’re going to find out. Click below to take the first of many little quizzes we’re going to have here at MoveToBend.com
McMap
While listening to NPR the other day, I heard an interview with a gentleman that blogs about maps. Some of us just have a fascination with geographic distribution of data. Like Ken Jennings, I find few things as interesting to stare at as a good map. Maphead: Charting the Wide, Weird World of Geography Wonks
Of all the maps hosted on this man’s immense blog, I was particularly drawn to this one:
This is a map showing the locations of all of the McDonald’s in the lower 48 United States. The sheer numbers are impressive enough, but look at the patterns. Major metropolitan centers, the string of locations along major interstates, the equidistant points in places like the Dakotas. No doubt this map is highly correlated with the current population of the US. Simple, beautiful, and interesting. Everything a good map should be.
July 2012 Bend Market Update
Looks like the Summer market is flattening out in Bend, Oregon. Both sale and listing inventory have stayed completely flat. That means there are just as many Bend Homes for Sale as there was last month and just as many people buying them. There was a little increase in Pending sales, so we’ll have to wait until next month to see what effect that will have on August closings.
Bend Elks Baseball Game
Last Saturday we attended a Bend Elks baseball game at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend. There is probably nothing that has more of the feel of Americana, than spending time at a small town baseball game. The stands were absolutely full of people. Hot dogs, popcorn, beer, and snacks of every variety abounded.
Then there is the fact that you’re in Bend. The night was just the right temperature, and while you’re watching the game you can also see the sun setting over the Three Sisters in the background. If you’re contemplating a move to bend and are still not entirely sure, I encourage you to take some time and visit during an Elks game. The smiles, cheers, and happy people will tell you all you need to know.
The evening was not without surprises. In the 8th inning, a rain cloud came over and dumped a shower on us. It only caused a small delay in the game, so while we were waiting, we ran under the stands and hung out with nationally syndicated DJ, Kidd Kraddick and [like_to_read]Tim Halperin from American Idol.
You just never know who you’re going to run into in Bend.[/like_to_read]
Mirror Pond Panorama
Here are the results of some photography the other morning. I had gone out to photograph a home and check on some flyers and I stopped in Drake Park on my way back to the office. Let me know what you think of this.
OK. First you have to start the audio portion. Don’t worry…it will continue to loop while you get to the visual part.
Next, click on the arrow in the upper right portion of the photo below. It will open up full screen. Then you can use your arrow keys or mouse to pivot around the photograph.
